After the hectic activity in the garden, we chilled out to this recently released Blu-ray DVD. It was one of the few Narnia books I hadn’t read, so I was looking forward to this production, although I had read somewhere that the storyline didn’t stick to the original book*.
OK, so it was full of excellent special effects and every scene was full of action – but, it certainly didn’t have the magic of the first film in the series and for me, it just seemed like a series of dramatic scenes linked by the theme of them all being on the ship – the Dawn Treader.
Having never read the book, I wasn’t sure how much of a part Reepicheep the valiant mouse had, but in the film he seemed to be the central character – I always worry when CGI takes priority over human actors!
All-in-all then, if you just wanted an easy film full of sfx and the obligatory CGI, then this film will tick all the boxes, but for me, maybe I set my expectations too high and it all seemed just a little dull!
* I just read online that it was pretty close to the book!
I got into blogging quite late in life, not publishing my first post until 2004 – well into my 40s! My lifelong love of technology and communication (in all its forms), together with a fondness for the art of writing seemed to be the perfect combination to contribute a few words to the online community. But I’m no Samuel Pepys! If you’re looking for deep and meaningful comments on a variety of subjects, then you’ve arrived at the wrong site! I only pen for pleasure! On average, my posts appear about twice per month, covering family & friends, cinema visits, eating out, holiday experiences and techy stuff. Oh, and as this is my hobby, there are no sponsored links nor adverts here – it’s all done with love!
I hope you find it enjoyable, interesting and occasionally, even helpful!
