We took a drive to Lee’s new place today to see how the decorator was getting on. Wow! What a transformation – the place looks a million times better! If all goes to plan, she’ll move in on Tuesday, after the funeral on Monday.
Christmas meal with Ian and Mags
After a few attempts to try and get together, we finally managed it and met at Baraset Barn in Alveston near Stratford-upon-Avon for our 2009 Christmas Meal. It was great to catch-up and the restaurant did us proud. Great food and superb service, plus Mags knew the front-of-house manager too! I got home around 11.30 …

Haworth: Day Four (Tuesday)
It’s our last full-day here today. We’re going to drive over to Bradford to the National Media Museum. As the title suggests, it’s a museum devoted to film, photography, television, radio and the web. We last went there over 20 years ago and the place sticks in our mind because at that time, we were …

Haworth: Day Three (Bank Holiday Monday)
Yes, up late again – 7.45! 🙂 The weather forecast is a bit crappy for today, although peeking through the curtains revealed something rare – a blue-ish sky!! With the weather a little unpredictable, we decided to seek the safety of somewhere under-cover, so we’re going to take the short drive to Colne – around …

Haworth: Day Two (Sunday)
I didn’t get up until almost 8am – brilliant! A quick peek through the curtains revealed a grey day, although it was, at least, dry! We feasted on M and S thick-cut bacon sandwiches for breakfast and then drove over to Skipton to have a general look around. Parking was easy and we were soon …

Haworth: Day One (Saturday)
We had a reasonable drive up here yesterday evening, leaving at 6.15 and arriving around 9.30 (just only one blip where we were caught in a traffic jam for around 25 minutes on the Newark by-pass because of a recent accident). By the time we arrived, it was dark, and that added to the challenge …

Sign on the line!
I took Lee down to town today so she could sign the paperwork for her new place in Kettering – it’s not long to go now, and the plan is that she officially moves in on the 9th May. I haven’t driven down to town for ages and the parking was even more nightmarish than …

Bye-bye Mr. Floppy!
No, not that! Engage Nerd-Mode… Another milestone today, as Sony, the last remaining manufacturer of floppy-disks, announces it will stop production next year. When I first got into computers back in the late 80s, these disks held 700k of data – a massive amount, and it was all that was needed. A box of 10 …

DVD: Surrogates
I’d forgotten I’d got this DVD! There wasn’t much on the TV (after Doctor Who, of course!), so I popped it in the DVD player and sat back to see what it was like. Starring Bruce Willis (minus his white vest), it’s a story set in the near future where we all stay indoors and …

A Brush with the…
Image by Steve Palmer (UK) via Flickr …cats. Biscuit and Bo-Bon went over to Patsy today for their regular ‘Tum-Bum-Claws ‘n’ Wash’ service. As usual, they played ‘catch-us-if-you-can’ once they got sight of the cat baskets. Bon-Bon attempted to hang onto my throat (ouch!) whilst I carried her downstairs, and Biscuit concealed herself behind one …

Lee re-joins us
Lee re-joined us today for a few days. It made sense as she has things to sort out this end regarding her new place in Kettering – and, she probably benefited from a change-of-scenery and some company after the bad news earlier this week.
Rat up a Drain-pipe
Image by Steve Palmer (UK) via Flickr Well, not quite! I went into the garden to get Biscuit in and couldn’t see her. Then I noticed she was on TOP of the pergola!!!! That’s about 5 metres from the ground – and there was no obvious way for her to climb the structure, as all …

Scariest episode ever? (this Saturday coming) ‘The Time of Angels’. Whatever you do, don’t blink!
Garage
Ahhh, remember the days when garages used to contain just cars and a few related bits? I do, (just!) It’s been a while since it was like that here and for too long, our double-garage has become a sort of ‘chuck-it-in-there-and-turn-the light-out-quickly’ storage facility!!! No more! – A couple of hours of hard graft this …

Meal with Mick and Jane
We met up with Mick and Jane at the Benefield Wheatsheaf. Spookily, we saw them here last year back in April too, When we went there last year, the place was very quiet, but this time, the car-park was packed. Going through the entrance door to the Bar area, I was slightly disorientated as they’d …

DVD: Hurt Locker + Fish and Chips with David and Val
There’s nothing quite like Fish and Chips on a Friday is there? Maybe it’s the health benefits of fish combined with the naughtiness of chips? Or, maybe it’s because it’s just the end of the week? Whatever! it all tasted good!!!! – and I managed to squeeze in a battered sausage – oo-err missus!!! 🙂 …

Endless Journey!!
So, the theory was that because it’s half-term, there wouldn’t be so much traffic on the roads. Well, that was certainly true on the journey TO my School meeting today. 122 miles in two-and-a-bit hours. Not bad!!! Contrast that with the journey home. I left at 12.55 and got home at 4.35!!!! Arghh! Accidents everywhere …

Entitled “The Eleventh Hour”, for me, this was a great start to the new series with Matt Smith taking over from David Tennant in the iconic role as The Doctor. Just as significantly, Steven Moffat also takes over as lead-writer (and writer for this first episode) as well as series producer (replacing Russell T …
