Jo, Janet, David, Val, Ann and I headed for The Exotic Dining restaurant in Kettering tonight. Cunningly hidden upstairs above the shops in Newland Street, no wonder we’d never stumbled on it before. Jo and Janet had been before, but for the rest of us, it was our first visit. A bit of prior research revealed that this place was getting rave reviews from everywhere and everyone. We eat out quite a lot and we were excited about find out what we’d missed out on!

We got there around 7.30 and were greeted with a friendly smile and a hand-shake – a good start. We were immediately shown to our table and the menus followed soon after. I began by temporarily suspended my Lent obligations and ordered a Cobra!

Wow! what a selection of food! A massive fish menu as well as lots of unusual dishes (Rabbit anyone? What about kangaroo or maybe even some camel??) – and even a separate part of the menu for old favourites.

We waited a bit longer between courses than is normal for an Indian restaurant, but that’s because (as we were soon to find out) a lot of effort was going into the presentation – especially the starters.

By 8pm, the place was starting to fill-up – obviously those that know about, err, know about it, and there was soon a buzzy atmosphere about the place. Generous portions all round meant that most of us (even me!) couldn’t finish everything, but it worth trying!!! Perhaps the only disappointment was the desserts – the ‘normal’ ice-cream-in-a-plastic-container affair!!! 🙂

All-in-all, It was all more-than-delicious. If you fancy something a little more exciting than the standard Kettering Curry Offer® I’d say this was very worthwhile – the chefs are obviously very (very) talented, and it was good to see a lot of non-standard dishes on offer. We’ll definitely be going back!
