The end of an era today, as not one but TWO of our closest friends said goodbye to their employer and joined the ranks of the retired due to ANOTHER Sainsbury restructure!

After a little deception by Janet, unsuspecting retiree, Jo was taken to Kettering’s poshest restaurant – The Palmichael – in nearby Burton Latimer, for a so-called ‘cosy meal’ with just Janet and Carol.
Instead, the big secret was that Chris, Ann, Nicki and I were also joining their table as part of that deception, where Nicki was also saying farewell to Mr Sainsbury.

With everyone now present, it made a whole table of ex-Sainsbury employees! I’m not sure of the total combined service amongst the seven of us, but I was at the lower end at ‘just’ 17 years, whereas just Jo and Nicki together, totalled over four times that! Answers on a postcard! 😉. For reasons that I never understand with restructures, that’s a lot of expertise and talent exiting the business in one go – at a time when retail (especially food retail) is struggling!

On a more positive note, at least now we’ve got more flexibility when meeting up socially! Congratulations, Nicki and Jo – your new chapter can now begin! 👍🙂😍
I got into blogging quite late in life, not publishing my first post until 2004 – well into my 40s! My lifelong love of technology and communication (in all its forms), together with a fondness for the art of writing seemed to be the perfect combination to contribute a few words to the online community. But I’m no Samuel Pepys! If you’re looking for deep and meaningful comments on a variety of subjects, then you’ve arrived at the wrong site! I only pen for pleasure! On average, my posts appear about twice per month, covering family & friends, cinema visits, eating out, holiday experiences and techy stuff. Oh, and as this is my hobby, there are no sponsored links nor adverts here – it’s all done with love!
I hope you find it enjoyable, interesting and occasionally, even helpful!
