Microsoft Live Mesh finally got dumped in favour of Microsoft Live Sync today. I’d been using Mesh for almost nine-months but I’d had my suspicions for a few weeks now that Mesh wasn’t automatically updating files across the network – even though the software itself said it had. New files were OK, but changes to …

You dancing? You asking?
Rosi rang to remind us about the new local dance-class – but it had totally slipped our mind. Embarrassingly, Rosi had reminded us a few weeks’ back too! Still, on the positive side, the World is spared (for a week at least) from the man with two left feet and all the rhythm of a …

Strimmer and Shopping
The Ryobi RLT30CET petrol strimmer arrived today courtesy of Screwfix. It was on special offer there and came with a free pruning attachment, so it was exceptional value (the pruning attachment alone was worth around £40). What a beast-of-a-tool – now all I need to do is assemble it! Update 17.45: David popped round (at …

Ahh, that’s nice!
I don’t normally cross-post comments from my business blog, but a delegate on one of my recent Workshops was moved to email the client and pass a comment about me: “I would just like to commend Steve Palmer on the course he ran on 9/10th June. I think this was a highly motivational, useful and …

Walkies – again

London for the weekend – Sunday
We were knackered! Although we didn’t get up until about 8ish, last night’s events meant we only got around seven hours’ sleep – it should have been enough…it obviously wasn’t! 🙂 We headed for breakfast and fortunately it was less busy than yesterday so we were seated quickly. After chasing tea and coffee – twice …

TV: ITV’s ‘Primeval’ is extinct!
This came as a surprise – Primeval, ITV’s Saturday prime-time fantasy series, (that did very well in the ratings), is NOT coming back for a new season. That’s the bad news – the good news is that it may be returning as a one-off film. Related articles Primeval axed after three series (news.bbc.co.uk) Is Primeval …

It was such a nice evening, we went for a short walk. Hard to believe it was 8.15pm – beautifully still and quite warm. Beautiful!!!
What do points make…?
For people of a certain age it makes ‘prizes’ – for me, it also makes for a complete pain-in-the-bottom having acquired nine points on my driving licence over recent years. So, a special day today then, where I say good-bye to three of them – sorry, I won’t miss you…. If I can get through …

DVD: “The Duchess”
We watched the 2008 DVD “The Duchess” this afternoon. It was a really good film – a lavish production in all senses…and even better on Blu-ray! The soundtrack was good too! Related stuff… ‘The Duchess’ exhibition: costumes and portraits at Chatsworth House (telegraph.co.uk)

We’ve now had the cats for four years. Biscuit now sleeps on the chair in our bedroom and Bon-Bon who used to sleep at the foot of the bed on Ann’s side, now sleeps on the floor. The initially amusing habit of Bon-Bon jumping on the bed at 3.30am and tapping me on the head …

Router problems
The replacement Router arrived from O2 as planned. I plugged it in and guess what? – it made no difference! After about an hour on the phone to BT and a further 45 minutes with O2, I was no further forward. BT pushed me back to O2 whilst O2 said there was nothing more they …

TV: Ashes to Ashes – Series 2, Final Episode
Tonight was the night for the final episode. Just before I posted this blog, I learned that there WILL be a third series. I’d guessed there might be as there seemed just too many loose-ends to clear-up in the final episode. Things took an interesting turn when I accidentally deleted the recording from our sky-box …

Whilst I was out this morning, Ann got stuck into repainting the walls in the kitchen and utility room. We’d chosen Wickes’ ‘Devon Sun’ – a slightly lighter shade of what was there already – nice job!! 👍
Film: Angels and Demons
We picked up Jo (Janet was working) to see the 4.30 performance of ‘Angels and Demons’. There had been mixed reviews in the Press – some were saying it was better than the first film: ‘The Da Vinci Code’, whilst others were saying it was a lot better. When we arrived, the car-park was already …
