Those with technophobia, should look away now!
If you live in a house where certain parts of it don’t receive a very good wireless signal from your router (because of thick walls or just physical distance), then there’s a good cost-effective solution available. Called a ‘range extender’, these bits of tech, ‘do exactly what they say on the tin’ – except they don’t come in a tin! There are quite a few models around, but the one that’s simplest to set up and is probably the cheapest (costing you less than 30 of your English pounds) is the snappily titled (deep breath…)
TP-Link TL-WA850RE 300Mbps Universal Wall Plug Range Extender
Best price seems to be from Amazon UK HERE at just under £26!
Once you are setup, you simply plug it into any mains socket, (ideally sited half-way between where your router lives and where you require the boosted signal), and it’ll imitate your router and boost the signal.
My signal downstairs went from 1 bar to 4 (out of 5). With a bit of repositioning, I may be able to hit a top signal strength of 5!
I got into blogging quite late in life, not publishing my first post until 2004 – well into my 40s! My lifelong love of technology and communication (in all its forms), together with a fondness for the art of writing seemed to be the perfect combination to contribute a few words to the online community. But I’m no Samuel Pepys! If you’re looking for deep and meaningful comments on a variety of subjects, then you’ve arrived at the wrong site! I only pen for pleasure! On average, my posts appear about twice per month, covering family & friends, cinema visits, eating out, holiday experiences and techy stuff. Oh, and as this is my hobby, there are no sponsored links nor adverts here – it’s all done with love!
I hope you find it enjoyable, interesting and occasionally, even helpful!
