We had a long-standing date to take them out for a slap-up lunch at The George Hotel in Stamford in celebration of their birthdays last year.
It’s always more than just a meal at The George, and today was no exception… …superb food, fantastic service resulting in a great atmosphere for a posh lunch at 12.30. We kicked-off with a glass of bubbly each and with my thirst quenched, I opted for the Chicken followed by my absolute favourite – Sherry Trifle! Still, enough of me; the celebrations ended just before 2pm with a surprise ‘candle’ (more like a flame thrower!) carefully placed on a small cake, courtesy of the Restaurant. It surprised us too, and we think the Waiter heard us mentioning the ‘double birthday’ when we first arrived – and exercised his initiative! Nice touch!!
We headed back to ours for a cuppa and a bit more chat before the Birthdayees said their goodbyes and headed home.
A super day, and good to catch-up with our good friends.
I got into blogging quite late in life, not publishing my first post until 2004 – well into my 40s! My lifelong love of technology and communication (in all its forms), together with a fondness for the art of writing seemed to be the perfect combination to contribute a few words to the online community.
