Today, was our second visit this year to Hitchen’s Barn in Oakham. The reason? A belated Birthday lunch for Janet – ably assisted by Jo, Carol, Ann and me!

Our first visit here was back in May (with Nick & Celina) and we were so impressed, we were itching to return. In our view, it’s toppled the better-known George Hotel in nearby Stamford for its food quality, food presentation and customer service – and is now our go-to eatery in this area! Praise indeed! 👍👍

Good to see nothing had changed! The same (very) warm welcome by the waiting staff offering a menu that changes daily. The restaurant itself had a cosy unhurried feel about it, even though it was full by the time we left! 😉

We chose the fixed-price three-courser, where I started with the Goat’s Cheese Cheesecake…

…followed by Duck…

…finishing with dark chocolate Panna Cotta.
It was all absolutely delicious (again!) 😉. So good, that we’ve booked two further visits!

We finished our visit to Oakham with a brief wander around the town taking in the Market, the Castle, and the town’s All Saint’s Church.
Happy belated Birthday Janet!!! 💕💕

I got into blogging quite late in life, not publishing my first post until 2004 – well into my 40s! My lifelong love of technology and communication (in all its forms), together with a fondness for the art of writing seemed to be the perfect combination to contribute a few words to the online community. But I’m no Samuel Pepys! If you’re looking for deep and meaningful comments on a variety of subjects, then you’ve arrived at the wrong site! I only pen for pleasure! On average, my posts appear about twice per month, covering family & friends, cinema visits, eating out, holiday experiences and techy stuff. Oh, and as this is my hobby, there are no sponsored links nor adverts here – it’s all done with love!
I hope you find it enjoyable, interesting and occasionally, even helpful!
