Honeymoon Day 14: 29th December (Thursday) – Taronga Zoo/Mission Impossible

Reading time: < 1 minute...

All together now: “We’re going to the zoo.. zoo… zoo… Would you like to come too… too… too…”

After breakfast we decided to each do our own thing. Ralph and Karen headed for the Botanic Gardens for a revisit, whilst we did some quick shopping for essentials and then took the short ferry-journey to Taronga Zoo. Once again, we seemed to have chosen a place where the rest of the country was visiting too! It was packed. Even one of the locals mentioned they’d never seen it so busy! The temperature was perfect too –not quite a hot as yesterday, with a slight breeze – but still in the mid-twenties! Perfect!

The Zoo was FANTASTIC! It was well laid out, and the animals looked very comfy in their surroundings. For us, the highlight of the day was the Bird Show. How they managed to choreograph all the birds to tie-in with the live commentary, we don’t know, but it was nothing short of superb – and worth the entrance fee just for that! Not too mention the choreographed rats too! Brilliant!!!!

I think we managed to cover the whole zoo – tiger cubs, giraffes, elephants, gorillas, koalas and red hairy kangaroos – you name it, they had it!

And if that wasn’t enough excitement for one day, after tucking into the free food at the hotel, we headed for Darling Harbour to see the latest Mission Impossible film on the ginormous iMax screen there! The film was great and the larger screen took some getting used to, but it was worth it – fantastic!!!
