In my efforts to move the description from ‘wheely-bin’ to ‘temple’, I am, again this year, taking Lent** very seriously. In 2010 I managed to resist most of the food-stuffs I love, without too much trouble – I’m not sure where the strength came from to do it!, but I felt quite smug at the end of it all!!!!
This year, sees a slightly larger challenge – I’ve increased the number of items on the banned-list to 16 (it was 13 last year), AND I intend to try and stick to it right up until the Wedding in December (with maybe just ONE alcoholic drink and an occasional deviation at weekends!).
So, when I see you, don’t temp me the following:
Beer, Biscuits, Cake, Cheese, Chinese, Chips, Chocolate, Cider, Coke (the fizzy kind!), Crisps, Crunchy Nut Cornflakes, Curry, Custard, Guinness, Ice-cream and Pastry. Ohh, and no sugar in my coffee thanks!
Well, that’s it, it’s on the Blog, so I’ll have to stick to it!
What have I said!!!!
** As I discovered last year, there’s quite a bit of debate about when Lent finishes. I’m working on the following:
“Lent in 2011 will start on Wednesday, the 9th of March and will continue for 46 days until Saturday, the 23rd of April (Easter Sunday)…”
I got into blogging quite late in life, not publishing my first post until 2004 – well into my 40s! My lifelong love of technology and communication (in all its forms), together with a fondness for the art of writing seemed to be the perfect combination to contribute a few words to the online community. But I’m no Samuel Pepys! If you’re looking for deep and meaningful comments on a variety of subjects, then you’ve arrived at the wrong site! I only pen for pleasure! On average, my posts appear about twice per month, covering family & friends, cinema visits, eating out, holiday experiences and techy stuff. Oh, and as this is my hobby, there are no sponsored links nor adverts here – it’s all done with love!
I hope you find it enjoyable, interesting and occasionally, even helpful!
