The Lunch Menu (click to enlarge)A superb extended lunch with our good friends Jane and Mick today. There’s something about The George in Stamford when it comes to munchies in their Oak Room restaurant – they just get it RIGHT …every time! I got into blogging quite late in life, not publishing my first post until 2004 - well into my 40s! My lifelong love of technology and communication (in all its forms), together with a fondness for the art of writing seemed to be the perfect combination to contribute a few words to the online community. But I'm no Samuel Pepys! If you're looking for deep and meaningful comments on a variety of subjects, then you've arrived at the wrong site! I only pen for pleasure! On average, my posts appear about twice per month, covering family & friends, cinema visits, eating out, holiday experiences and techy stuff. Oh, and as this is my hobby, there are no sponsored links nor adverts here – it's all done with love!
I hope you find it enjoyable, interesting and occasionally, even helpful!

A bit of a technological milestone today! – even though the Maths in the title looks a bit dodgy, all will be revealed! I moved my mobile phone from the always reliable ‘O2’ to 3. I’ve been with O2 for as long as I can remember (1985 actually) when it was called Cellnet, and they …

TV Obsession
Yes, it’s that time of year, where we start to think about replacing the TV. But first, a short history lesson… Technology waits for no one – even for tech-heads like me! So this is our first 4K TV. In English, this means it has four-times the picture detail of an HD Telly. OK, nothing from …

Steve gets Smart!
Today, at last, I got smart. More accurately, our house did – courtesy of a very nice man from British Gas called Tim. I must admit, I’ve known about the existence of ‘smart meters’ for some time now, but like many other things in (my) life, I’ve never got around to looking at it in …

Palmers Reunited
Our second foray into travelling down to my brother’s by train meant that we didn’t need to leave at the crack of dawn to get there. Unusually though, the ticket prices weren’t so advantageous and we weren’t able to get our pair of tickets for around £40 (as usual) – it was closer to £80! …

Doctor Who Christmas Special 2016 – The Return of Doctor Mysterio
The whole Doctor Who ‘thing’ has now become such a significant event at Christmas, that this year’s episode, for the first time, got a gala launch at the National Film Theatre. Christmas 2016
I picked up Lee on the 23rd as she’ll be staying with us over the holiday period. As things turned-out, the forecast was spot on, so smugness prevailed once …
