New Year’s Eve – 2015

Reading time: < 1 minute...

This year, we stayed over at the Kettering Spa Hotel. Janet had helpfully done all the arranging, so all we needed to do was turn up!

We arrived around 3pm, checked-in and (shock horror!), we used their Gym. Then it was back to the room, to get ready for tonight’s celebrations.

This year, there were even more people going to the event – so many in fact, that they split the event on to two floors. With 100+ people ‘downstairs’, we were in the ‘upstairs’ event that seated aorund 60-70. At around 6.45, Janet, Jo and Carol joined us in the upstairs Bar, and we were treated to plenty of nibbles and a glass of champagne before the event officially started.

Then, on the stroke of 7pm, the wailing started! The good type! – as a Piper piped us in to Table 5, where we joined two other groups. As we soon found out, it was much easier to have a conversation with our fellow diners because of the fewer numbers on this floor.

…and there we stayed for the next six hours (with the occasional visit to the dance-floor). The food, as last year, was pretty good, with the steak being truly melt-in-the-mouth.

We helped the food along with a couple of bottles of red and a bottle of white, before breaking open the champers just before midnight

We all lasted until just before 1am, where, in spite of the temptation of free bacon-butties, we all headed back to our rooms.

All-in-all, it was a really enjoyable event, lots of laughs, lots of good food and lots of drink! A perfect combo then!!! The Hotel staff worked hard throughout our stay, and they were very cheery and helpful.

Happy New Year!
