On the spur of the moment (unusual for us!), we decided to risk the iffy weather and take the short drive, about 25 minutes away, to the NT property – Lyveden New Bield (a bit of a mouthful!). Apparently, we went there around 10 years ago – but I don’t remember it at all!
The NT have done a great job in cleaning it all up, but the journey up the narrow road to the car park, was ‘interesting’ – full of pot-holes and lumps and bumps – so I’m glad we didn’t take the Insignia with its ultra-low profile tyres.
As soon as we got out of the car, it started raining, but despite the weather, the place was already quite busy. It was an interesting building to look at from all angles, and it also had the unique feature of being surrounded by… nothing at all, apart from zillions of acres of Northamptonshire countryside – lovely!
I got into blogging quite late in life, not publishing my first post until 2004 – well into my 40s! My lifelong love of technology and communication (in all its forms), together with a fondness for the art of writing seemed to be the perfect combination to contribute a few words to the online community. But I’m no Samuel Pepys! If you’re looking for deep and meaningful comments on a variety of subjects, then you’ve arrived at the wrong site! I only pen for pleasure! On average, my posts appear about twice per month, covering family & friends, cinema visits, eating out, holiday experiences and techy stuff. Oh, and as this is my hobby, there are no sponsored links nor adverts here – it’s all done with love!
I hope you find it enjoyable, interesting and occasionally, even helpful!
