Tonight was the first opportunity to take the car for a long run.
I picked Ann up from the station at around 7pm, and then we headed straight for L and B’s. It’s normally two-and-a-half hour run. We immediately ran into problems when we joined the queue on the A14 about a mile from the A605 turn-off. We learned later that a lorry fire had closed the A14 along our intended route. Cleverly, the sat-nav showed the jam and re-routed us through Peterborough!
The car performed well, and the average mpg rose and rose. By the time we got to L and B’s at around 9.45, the average mpg was showing 39.9. An excellent figure given that we were stuck in a traffic jam for 30 minute or so.
We had a quick bite to eat and ‘hit the sack’ around 10.30.

I got into blogging quite late in life, not publishing my first post until 2004 – well into my 40s! My lifelong love of technology and communication (in all its forms), together with a fondness for the art of writing seemed to be the perfect combination to contribute a few words to the online community. But I’m no Samuel Pepys! If you’re looking for deep and meaningful comments on a variety of subjects, then you’ve arrived at the wrong site! I only pen for pleasure! On average, my posts appear about twice per month, covering family & friends, cinema visits, eating out, holiday experiences and techy stuff. Oh, and as this is my hobby, there are no sponsored links nor adverts here – it’s all done with love!
I hope you find it enjoyable, interesting and occasionally, even helpful!
