The three of us (Ann, Nicki and I) took a drive to Ely today. I haven’t been there for a gazillion years. Parking was pretty straightforward – a dedicated car-park for the Cathedral, our first stop. As we walked from the car, we suddenly realised how cold it was – but worse was to come!! …

Nicki here for the weekend
Nicki joined us tonight – she’s been on holiday this week and staying ’til late Saturday night and then driving home. I’d quite forgotten that we hadn’t ‘done’ Christmas pressies with her (as we didn’t see her over the Christmas period) and it felt really strange doing this in February! She also bought us some …

Stamford/Avatar (almost!)/Mazza’s
Stamford We took a drive over to Stamford for a few bits of shopping. Boy was it cold!!! We managed to get everything we were looking for, and Lee even picked-up a couple of ‘Frank Spencer’ style hats. Nice 🙂 Lee also bought us some silver ornamental cats. We were back by 2pm, with the …

Actor, Ian Charmichael dies
Those of a certain age will remember Ian Carmichael, a British actor who specialised in playing ‘upper-class twits’. He died on Friday, aged 89. I’d recently watched him in the 1960 film: ‘School for Scoundrels’ – which was hilarious!!!! Chish and Fips!
A busy, but ultimately enjoyable day. It didn’t start off that way though! For no reason, at about 11am, we lost all connections to the internet for about an hour, just at the point where all the stuff I’d been working on in the morning needed a connection to complete the job. Strangely, email was …

TV: Doctor Who – Series 5
I’ve heard that the new series begins in March. Rumour has it the titles of the first three episodes are:
Family get-together
We almost had everyone – Bev couldn’t make it because she was working, and Mum’s health is suffering at the moment and so she fancy the journey. Ann and Lee drove over the Waitrose to pick-up the food, whilst I finished tidying-up the house! So just Mae, Denis, Roger, Jane and Oliver arrived for lunch …

Mum’s health…
We’re starting to get concerned (again) about Mum’s health. The ‘patches’ that the Doctor gave her a while ago, to ease the pain with her other hip now don’t seem to be helping much at all. Combine that with her falling into the TV and then into the fireplace on Friday has meant she’s in …

Let Them eat Cake….
I seem to have spent the whole week eating! One of the benefits (or curses, if you’re dieting) is that with Lee staying with us, I get a lunch-time meal too. Well, I managed to avoid that today because I drove down to South Mimms to meet-up with Simon H for a business catch-up and …

It would seem that the best Indian restaurant round here – Mazza’s – has started a delivery service!!
USB iz Gr8!
You know me, I can’t go a week without a dabble in technology! How’s this then, for something really neat…and useful too! Ann’s car came with a ‘usb port for music’. After briefly reading the manual (boring!), I ordered an 8Gb stick from Amazon in a nice ‘girly pink’ (about 20 quid)and then copied a …

Ann’s new car is here…
Excellent news! Ann picked up her new car today. Well, it’s almost the same, apart from the wheels and Ann’s had a body-kit added too! Yum Yum!!
Busy…Busy!
Image by Steve Palmer (UK) via Flickr Yes, it’s another one of those Saturdays where it’s all go-go-go!! First off, me over to Peterborough for a hair-cut, then back to pick up the 5 ton of holiday dry cleaning! Ann and Lee then headed over to Waitrose, shopping complete with the cats who are going …

Meal with David and Val
If it’s the weekend, it must be The Wheatsheaf at Titchmarsh! 🙂 …well, it feels like it, as we were there last Saturday too! This time, it’s our regular monthly meal out with David and Val and I reckon if they don’t change the menu soon, we’re in danger of having tried everything on it …

DVD: Star Trek
I’d been to see it at the cinema in May last year. Lee’s a fan, and hadn’t seen it, so with Ann away tonight (who’s not a fan!), it was the perfect opportunity to see it in all its blu-ray glory. Having watched it again, I’d say it was a very watchable film – even …

Lunch with Dave B
I drove over to Market Harborough today to meet-up with my friend Dave B. We’d tried to meet back in early December, but the appalling traffic for Dave as he headed south on the M1 meant I ran out of time waiting for him. We parked up at the top of the high-street in Market …

TV: Being Human (Series 2)
Series 2 started last week and I quickly caught up with episode 1, courtesy of SkyPlus, over the weekend. What did I think? Well, surprisingly, I didn’t enjoy it at all. The acting was fine, as usual, but structurally, the story was all over the place and there just seemed to be too many characters. …

Meal with Jane and Mick
We drove to our favourite pub/restaurant – The Wheatsheaf at Titchmarsh – to meet up with Jane and Mick. It was our usual annual get-together – in fact we saw them on the 16th last year too! The meal I thought was great, as always – I had the ‘blade of beef’ whilst Ann had …

Lunch with Alison W
We met at John Lewis in Peterborough and it seemed that the whole of Cambridgeshire was having lunch at the same time as us! Busy or what??? I can’t believe it was October 2008, when we last saw each other. What with work commitments and the awful weather, we’ve only now got around to meeting-up! …

TV: Doctor Who 2009 Christmas Special – ‘The End of Time’
Shown in two parts (on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day) and attracting an audience of 10+ million viewers (which is very respectable for a cult TV programme), this was David Tennant‘s final appearance as the Time Lord. We’d been out of the country for Christmas and the new year, and so far, I’d managed …

Barbados – Extra
Thursday 7 January 4.00am local time. Well, here we are. Still. After yesterday’s announcement that our flight today has been cancelled, we’re still no further forward. The BA Helpline sent us on a wild mongoose chase to the Airport, whilst the Airport advised us to return to our B and B and ‘ring this number’. …
