Not Hollywood, but the next best thing – Kettering! 👍😉

Thanks to great mates, Jo & Janet, and their theatre voucher to us last Christmas, we took the very short drive to the Lighthouse Theatre in town tonight.

We were looking forward to seeing Frankie’s Guys, a tribute act celebrating the music of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.

Judging by the activity in the car-park, it looked like it was a popular choice tonight! We were soon parked and heading for the Circle – good seats too!

It wasn’t quite a ‘full house’ downstairs, but very nearly!

Wow! First Impressions? A really polished act, but the more observant of you will have immediately spotted a missing component! Yes, they were a season short! Whilst Matt, Mark and Harry, held their own – 25% down – they explained that James, was away, dealing with a family issue. To be honest, it was a very full-on and harmonious sound with just the three of them, so imagine when all four of them are performing together! 👍

The Act were celebrating an epic 10 years of UK and global touring and accompanied by a live band (no backing tracks here tonight). The show promised all of the hits of the original group and they didn’t disappoint, where their playlist included:-

  • Sherry
  • Big Girls Don’t Cry
  • December 1963 (Oh What A Night)
  • Walk Like A Man
  • Can’t Take My Eyes Off You
  • Let’s Hang On
  • Grease

…and about a gazillion others! 🎶🎵

Not only great vocalists (especially Harry, as Frankie!). they were exceptionally well choreographed too with their dance moves working perfectly with the hits – that just kept on coming. They involved the audience too (we were safe, seated in the Circle! 😉) in a respectful way, hand-picking two fans to assist them with their songs over the course of their performance. Hats off to their Band too – Keyboards, Drums, Bass and Rhythm guitars kept the music going and was also of a very high standard.

If their song and dance talents weren’t enough (they were!), those 10 years in the game meant they soon had the audience onside. Audience participation, whether clapping or dancing in the aisles became the norm.

The Act was split into two sets and when the curtain finally came down, Kettering wasn’t quite ready to let them go! Not ONE but THREE more songs for their encore and then an encore of the encore with a final piece!

We’ve seen quite a few tribute bands over the years ranging from ‘Really?’ ☹️ to ‘Wow!’ 🥳 – and these guys were Wow Plus! Whether you’re a fan of Frankie Val’s music or not, or just want to see a dedicated group of professionals doing what they do best and giving the audience a great time – go see! We loved it! 👏👏

Thanks Janet, thanks Jo, we had a fab time! 🥰🥰
