I used the Laptop today at a client’s workshop – all was fine. By the time I got home and began to empty my bag, I noticed everything was a little damp and that included the laptop!
Anyway, all seemed to be OK and then the hard disk started to make a clicking sound. The screen then dropped out to a blank one with the message ‘cannot find bootable media’.
OK, that’s serious! Repeated reboots resulted in the laptop working only about 1 in 10 times.
So, it was a call to Dell and they’ve concluded that the hard disk has failed and they’re going to send me a new one with the DVD for Windows Vista Business – it looks like I’ll have a busy weekend ahead re-installing everything. :((
TIP: “Don’t put your drinking bottle in the same bag as your laptop!”
I got into blogging quite late in life, not publishing my first post until 2004 – well into my 40s! My lifelong love of technology and communication (in all its forms), together with a fondness for the art of writing seemed to be the perfect combination to contribute a few words to the online community. But I’m no Samuel Pepys! If you’re looking for deep and meaningful comments on a variety of subjects, then you’ve arrived at the wrong site! I only pen for pleasure! On average, my posts appear about twice per month, covering family & friends, cinema visits, eating out, holiday experiences and techy stuff. Oh, and as this is my hobby, there are no sponsored links nor adverts here – it’s all done with love!
I hope you find it enjoyable, interesting and occasionally, even helpful!
