Return to The Bell, Alderminster

Reading time: < 1 minute...

Today was a welcome return to The Bell in Alderminster to meet up with long-time mates Ian & Ann and Alan & Mags for a long Lunch. We were last all together here back in August, last year – and we were so impressed, we felt they deserved a repeat visit! 👍👍

Given the driving conditions, it was, predictably, a crappy journey there! This included partly ‘sailing’ through a flooded road on the Fosse Way that had already claimed a BMW as a victim, up to nearly the top of its wheels in rainwater, hazards flashers on, with all its windows steamed-up! 😲

We arrived just before 12.30 (phew!) and grabbed the last parking space in The Bell’s car-park.

After ‘hellos’ around, we were soon familiarising ourselves with the menu…

Plenty of choice, as usual, although most of us opted for the Chicken Coq au Vin Pie leaving Ann to try their Curry and Mags, the Haddock. The portions are generous here, so we all skipped the Starters, but eventually succumbed to their ‘Mini Desserts’ that included a coffee (yummy and good value too!). We all remarked how tasty everything was – and how busy they were! 👍

£60-per-couple and two hours later, we were done! All that was left was to agree our next get-together. That proved easy and we pencilled in Friday, the 10th May at The George in Great Oxendon.

On our journey home, we decided to try the M6/A14 instead of the Fosse Way. It was all going well until a twenty-minute delay on the A14, causing nose-to-tail sluggish traffic – for no apparent reason! We arrived home just after 4.10pm.

It was good to catch-up with everyone and I even managed to cut up my food without assistance! 👍👍
