Well, not really!
As far as Ann knew, we were going ‘somewhere’ for lunch – just the two of us.
In reality, I’d booked The Pheasant at Keyston for 12.30 and the surprise for Ann was going to be 12 others joining us for lunch.

So, when I planned it all those weeks ago, I thought it would be extra special if it was ‘girls-only’. I managed to get the majority of her closest girlie-friends there… Chris, Debbie, Denise, Gill, Jane, Janet, Jo, Karen H, Karen R, Nicki, Rosi and Val (Nicki had driven all the way from Bracknell to be there).
Girls-only made it a treat for me too!
By the time we arrived, it was raining quite hard. However, the dullness of the weather was more than made up for by the girls’ cheers as we approached the Bar. The look on Ann’s face when she saw everyone was priceless – talk about shocked!

The food was superb (fish soup, roast pork and the obligatory sticky toffee pudding for me) and everyone else seemed to enjoy theirs. The staff also worked really hard to look after us and that made the whole experience even more enjoyable.

We settled the bill, said our good-byes and headed for home.
Mission accomplished – thanks girls, for keeping the secret and making Ann’s special event so memorable – we love you all!
Thanks to all the staff at The Pheasant too for working so hard.

I got into blogging quite late in life, not publishing my first post until 2004 – well into my 40s! My lifelong love of technology and communication (in all its forms), together with a fondness for the art of writing seemed to be the perfect combination to contribute a few words to the online community. But I’m no Samuel Pepys! If you’re looking for deep and meaningful comments on a variety of subjects, then you’ve arrived at the wrong site! I only pen for pleasure! On average, my posts appear about twice per month, covering family & friends, cinema visits, eating out, holiday experiences and techy stuff. Oh, and as this is my hobby, there are no sponsored links nor adverts here – it’s all done with love!
I hope you find it enjoyable, interesting and occasionally, even helpful!
