Well that’s good news! Ann’s car got through the MOT – not bad for a 105,000-mile Mondeo!!! I continued to reinstall everything back onto the Laptop. I reckon I’ll finish it by today, although I did have to cancel my visit to Jackie’s to give me more time to focus on the PC. Other than …

Bad technology day
Bugger! For some unknown reason, the laptop started to behave strangely today. The hard disk light just kept flashing and nothing would load. In spite of a lot of help from Dell, we had to return it to ‘factory settings’. So, I spent most of the day re-installing stuff. Looks like it’s going to take …

Visit Mae and Denis
Unusually, I found that my domain ‘StevePalmer.com’ was down this morning. ‘Server Error 500’…I don’t think that the site has ever failed before. Luckily after a swift call the Activ24, my host, it was back up and running by about 11am. We took a drive with Mum to visit Mae and Denis. Mae certainly looks …

Lazy Day with Roger and Jane
We didn’t do very much today. We spent the morning reading the papers, whilst Oliver watched his Wallace and Gromit mega-DVD. Jane and Roger decided to take Oliver down to Wicksteed Park and that gave us chance to get the house back into shape and prepare the lunch. Ann prepared a really good Spanish-style tapas …

Wireless access to the Internet
This is strange! I seem to be picking up an UNsecured NetGear wireless connection. This Blog is being written using it. It’s obviously a neighbour’s. At first, I thought it was coming from T and J’s house…but they’re away at the moment – strange! I must find out who it is and tell them…
Follow-up my car break-in
The Police came round today to offer us the the option of sending my wallet away for extensive forensic examination. Unfortunately, what we hadn’t realised was that the examination would probably render the wallet useless, so we declined (the wallet had been a gift from Ann to me many years ago). I took the Officer …

A few days ago, the BBC announced it was launching its ‘iPlayer’. It’s a clever bit of software that allows you to download and watch BBC TV programmes for up to 30 days (I think) after they’ve been broadcast. After that time they disappear from your hard disk – must be magic :)) The downloading …
