Lee, Ann and I drove over to Stratford-upon-Avon tonight to see Second Thoughtsproduction of Calendar Girls. After a slow drive there because of congestion on the A14, on arrival it wasn’t the warmest of nights, and so not an ideal evening to ask the cast to dis-robe!

Second Thoughts always punches above its weight, and tonight was no exception. it was a superb production with fine acting all round involving a tasteful display of naked bodies  (including one of the male cast who made me feel that I really MUST get to the gym!!!! – real soon!!!!!)

For us, the only slight disappointment was the state of the Civic Hall, itself, which is currently undergoing some very intensive rebuilding – the result of which meant that the route to our seats took us through a f-f-f-f-f-freezing cold temporary corridor, and there weren’t any hot drinks available due to the temporary position of the Bar.

The journey home was real torture! After a trouble-free exit out of Stratford-upon-Avon, it was all going very well until we got onto the M6 and saw that the gantry signs were warning of ‘serious delays, A14, junctions 3-7’. It wasn’t worth risking that the signs might have incorrect, so we carried on down the M1 and in the general direction of home via the A43. Luckily that route was reasonably clear, and we got home around 11.30 – only about 15 minutes later than it should have been.
