Not quite, this is a Nutters’ Roast!
Good to see our fellow Nutters again – Geoff & Rhonda, Rich & Nicki and Paul & Sue – all together again in one place. The last time was on our Cruise back in August.
Today was also our first official festive lunch of 2023 – and what a lunch!!
Everyone contributed to the menu with Nicki/Rich providing Mince Pies, Paul/Sue, the Stuffing and Geoff/Rhonda, the Crackers. This left us two to fill in the gaps with a Turkey Crown with an impressive range of vegetables.
…all helped along with some homemade Cranberry Sauce, and a ‘few’ bottles of the red and white grape to wash it all down.
Dessert followed (as it very often does here!) in the shape of Ann’s Peach Melba Trifle, Nicki’s Mince Pies and an ASDA Luxury Christmas Pudding. Safe to say, we didn’t have to save any space in the fridge for leftovers! 😁
Some things don’t change and even the premium feel of the M&S Crackers yielded the same ‘unique style’ of Christmas hats and the corniest of Christmas jokes – but that’s all part of Christmas isn’t it? However, in addition, each one contained three subjects to act out in a game of Charades. Ahh, Charades… another Christmas staple, was to follow! 🤔
Quite apart from the excellent food, the most important part of today was that we had all got back together! Even though some of us are retired, it’s still a challenge to get us all in the same room at the same time – and that’s what made it extra special today!
As an extra treat, Nicki had made us all some individual ‘tree presents’ – Yummy! Cheers Nicki. 😋. Fully stuffed, we headed to the Lounge for that obligatory game of Charades, courtesy of Geoff & Rhonda’s M&S Crackers.
They were surprisingly difficult to communicate (or maybe we were just out of practice?). We all took turns doing our best to impart three subjects each, in turn. An hour later, we were still laughing at our collective performances where Rich, had been amazing at guessing the answer from the smallest (and sometimes confusing) of clues! 👍👍.
We even got time to begin discussions about the next Northants Nutters Getaway in 2024. Co-ordinating diaries was, as expected, tricky, but we did eventually find a date that worked for us all next year. It looks like another short Cruise! 👍😀👍😀
With Richard and Nicki taking turns in the kitchen, by the time everyone headed for home, there wasn’t much to clear up – cheers guys, that was a real bonus!
Merry Christmas Nutters! 🎅🌲
I got into blogging quite late in life, not publishing my first post until 2004 – well into my 40s! My lifelong love of technology and communication (in all its forms), together with a fondness for the art of writing seemed to be the perfect combination to contribute a few words to the online community. But I’m no Samuel Pepys! If you’re looking for deep and meaningful comments on a variety of subjects, then you’ve arrived at the wrong site! I only pen for pleasure! On average, my posts appear about twice per month, covering family & friends, cinema visits, eating out, holiday experiences and techy stuff. Oh, and as this is my hobby, there are no sponsored links nor adverts here – it’s all done with love!
I hope you find it enjoyable, interesting and occasionally, even helpful!
