Off to The White Swan in Shawell, south of Lutterworth today, to check out its suitability for a subsequent visit with friends later this year.
It was a bit off the beaten track, but we were soon parked in their sizeable car-park and heading for our table.
Their Friday Lunch Menu is HERE
First impressions? A tad quiet for a Friday, but we weren’t here for the people – we’re foodies after all, and this place had a Michelin Star!👍😋😋
We were soon being attended to by the friendly staff and we placed our order within a few minutes of being seated. Ann chose the Haddock Risotto followed by the Chocolate Sponge whilst I settled for the Braised Beef Cheek and one of their specials: White Chocolate Bread & Butter Pudding with Rum & Raisin Ice-Cream.
Well, the food was excellent! They clearly know their stuff and based on this brief encounter, the Michelin Star was well deserved! 😀👍
But, do you know what? It all felt a bit lacking somehow. 🤔. Maybe it was the restricted choice on the menu, or the somewhat sterile atmosphere, or just that it all looked a bit too ‘Cheffy’ for us (partly reflected in the portion sizes). The service was polite and efficient, so I’m not sure why we felt somewhat underwhelmed by the whole experience. Maybe on another day – a busier one – there might have been more of a buzz about the place, Who knows? With so many choices around these parts, I’m sad to say, this is one we won’t be returning to! ☹️☹️. I hope someone proves us wrong. 🤔
I got into blogging quite late in life, not publishing my first post until 2004 – well into my 40s! My lifelong love of technology and communication (in all its forms), together with a fondness for the art of writing seemed to be the perfect combination to contribute a few words to the online community. But I’m no Samuel Pepys! If you’re looking for deep and meaningful comments on a variety of subjects, then you’ve arrived at the wrong site! I only pen for pleasure! On average, my posts appear about twice per month, covering family & friends, cinema visits, eating out, holiday experiences and techy stuff. Oh, and as this is my hobby, there are no sponsored links nor adverts here – it’s all done with love!
I hope you find it enjoyable, interesting and occasionally, even helpful!
