Six Days in Cyprus – Day 3 (Friday)

Six Days in Cyprus – Day 4 (Yesterday)

Nope, NOT a copy/paste job from every other day this week, honest!

Good morning! Welcome back, loyal reader. 😁. It’s our last full day here at the Annabelle Hotel in Paphos, Cyprus.

In front of me – cereals and coffee, behind me – Bougainvillea!

9.00am: Here we go again! Breakfast outside in the Sun. Where the only challenge is deciding WHAT to have! There’s pretty much everything and anything here, where the Egg Station is always a popular choice (unless you’re a chicken!)

10.06am: After breakfast, we headed down towards the coastline, which turned out to be a good move. It was warm, but with the occasional cool sea-breeze and plenty of sun-loungers. And that’s where we stayed for the next hour-or-so!

11.25am: After completing the testing of the sun-loungers, we headed back to the room for a quick change of clothes. We are meeting up with Geoff & Rhonda to discuss our next Northants Nutters event in 2023 and heading for Corallo Restaurant where we’re promised an authentic Cypriot Lunch.

1.00pm: We took the short taxi ride to the Restaurant which was a very pleasant drive northwards towards Coral Bay.

Lunch – Corallo Restaurant

Geoff & Rhonda arrived a few minutes after us, and we were soon taking our seats in the Restaurant.

Highly Recommended!

The Menu was impressive – and all the dishes were packed with flavour and great value.

In the end, and for simplicity, we ALL chose the Full Meze. And, in typical Cypriot style, what came out of the kitchen was tasty, filling, and it seemed… never-ending! I tend to overuse the word ‘feast’ when I’m blogging about eating out, but this really did feel like the real deal!

We were all enjoying the food – probably one the tastiest offerings since we arrived out here (don’t mention the Carrot & Ginger Soup from yesterday!). In between the food, we even had time to discuss and narrow down the Northants Nutters (us six) getaway for next year. With the meal lasting over three hours (surely a good sign!), our tastebuds had had a treat and we’d experienced great service – all at a very reasonable price. “A good time was had by all” as they say.

4.05pm: Time to say our goodbyes to Geoff & Rhonda having had the opportunity to enjoy their company much more often than usual during our stay here. Cheers, you two! Thanks for showing us around and sharing your experiences. They then headed back to their Apartment, whilst we took a Bus Taxi back to ours.

Northants Nutters World Tour, Coral Bay, Cyprus 2022

Before leaving, Geoff did his best to encourage us to use the local bus, but we resisted! 😉. Later, the sudden deterioration in the weather in the shape of a serious downpour of rain proved we’d made the right decision! How so? The Taxi dropped us right outside the Annabelle, whereas the Bus would have dropped us at the Harbour – a twenty-minute swim walk away! ⛈️☂️☔🌧️🌦️

4.45pm: Back at the Hotel we watched the continuing downpour from the safety of the Hotel corridor – and as we saw the Sun set, we commented how lucky we’d been with the weather this week. This twenty-minute rainstorm seemed to have caught a lot of people out based on that old saying: “There’s no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing!” — there were certainly more than a few ‘drowned rats’ out there! 😕

Well, we couldn’t really do anything outside (we had planned a stroll to walk off Lunch) as it was still very wet out there. Instead, we turned our attention to getting packed as we’re checking-out tomorrow afternoon.

8.05pm: Our final evening meal here at the Annabelle! Not one of us could face anything substantial! 🤐🤐🤐🤐 but we thought we’d pick out something light to eat. When we arrived at Fontana, there was already a queue to get in (very unusual!). Apparently, the rain had brought all the guests who’d planned to eat outside at the various Restaurants, inside – and the place was buckling under the pressure. 😫😫. We were asked to wait upstairs for 15-20 minutes which we did. After just 10, the Supervisor found us and escorted us to our table. How’s that for customer service!?!?

By the time we’d finished eating (and drinking a rather good bottle of a local Sauvignon Blanc), Fontana was almost empty! Normality returned, and the staff looked all the better for it! ✅✅

9.44pm: Well, that’s our last full day here. Given the change in the weather, we’re uncertain about our exact plans for tomorrow, but if possible, we’re going to squeeze in a stroll to the harbour and back! Night all! 😴💤😴💤
