Yes, another of our TV Dinners with mates! This time it’s Sir Gary Oldman as Winston Churchill in The Darkest Hour – and we’re watching it with Trish & John. We’d originally seen the film just before its official release back in January, 2018, courtesy of Sky VIP. We hadn’t really spent any quality time with our friends since Myra’s funeral a few weeks ago, and it was good to catch up with all their news. It looks like Australia might be a few steps closer for our good friends! 👍👍
We’ve enjoyed quite a few of these ‘TV Dinnners’ in the past few years (see later) – the perfect combination of good friends, good food and a good Film! This was our ninth ‘square-eye spectacle’ and with the DVD loaded, it was just a case of pressing the ‘play’ button with our TV Dinner just moments away.

What an engaging Film! Even though we’ve seen it a few times, it was just as watchable tonight as it was during our first screening all those years ago. Top marks for Sir Gary Oldman, who did such a convincing job of portraying the iconic Brit! They don’t make Brits like that anymore! Sir Winston Churchill may not have had a perfect record, but he got us through one of the most challenging periods of our history
Ann, as usual, did miracles in the kitchen! 😀. Tonight, she served up ‘Mexican Cottage Pie’ – a slightly spicier variation on that Brit favourite with Sweet Potato Mash taking place of the usual topping!

Needless to say, it all went down a treat – and for some of us, more than once!! 👍😋😋.

But wait! There’s more! We’re all ‘cheese monsters’, so it was only right that a Cheeseboard was part of the feast (but we did skip the Dessert Course as a concession to Lent!). All in all, then, a great evening with great mates. Here’s to the next one! 😀😀.
I got into blogging quite late in life, not publishing my first post until 2004 – well into my 40s! My lifelong love of technology and communication (in all its forms), together with a fondness for the art of writing seemed to be the perfect combination to contribute a few words to the online community. But I’m no Samuel Pepys! If you’re looking for deep and meaningful comments on a variety of subjects, then you’ve arrived at the wrong site! I only pen for pleasure! On average, my posts appear about twice per month, covering family & friends, cinema visits, eating out, holiday experiences and techy stuff. Oh, and as this is my hobby, there are no sponsored links nor adverts here – it’s all done with love!
I hope you find it enjoyable, interesting and occasionally, even helpful!
