We met up with Ian & Ann and Alan and Mags today, part of our three-monthly catchup. Today’s venue-of-choice was Hilltop Farm in Leamington Spa – a first visit for us!

It was a grotty day weather-wise (typical December) – mizzle! – but on arrival, looking at how packed the car-park was, suggested this was going to be worth the drive! Ian had recommended the food – especially their Burger! 👍😋

A bit scruffy from the outside, where, if you didn’t know the place, it would be easy to think ‘it can’t be here, surely!’ Inside though, not only a Café (in truth, a small restaurant), there was also a Farm Shop AND a proper old-school butchery counter (at which we were ultimately tempted by their lamb chops and some cheese).
But it was to turn out to punch well above its weight, with some very enthusiastic staff and a professional feel to the whole dining experience.

There was plenty of choice on offer including their Christmas Menu allowing me to mark today as my SECOND Christmas Lunch of 2024 (their ‘Classic Roast Turkey’ followed by the ‘Banoffee Cheesecake‘)

A great experience, although the service tailed off a little towards the end (probably because they were so busy!). Our next get-together? Friday, March 14th – The Countryman in Staverton. A crappy journey home due to some mega-congestion the A14, meant we didn’t get in until close on 5pm (having left around 3.25!) – it was only 40 miles! 😯

I got into blogging quite late in life, not publishing my first post until 2004 – well into my 40s! My lifelong love of technology and communication (in all its forms), together with a fondness for the art of writing seemed to be the perfect combination to contribute a few words to the online community. But I’m no Samuel Pepys! If you’re looking for deep and meaningful comments on a variety of subjects, then you’ve arrived at the wrong site! I only pen for pleasure! On average, my posts appear about twice per month, covering family & friends, cinema visits, eating out, holiday experiences and techy stuff. Oh, and as this is my hobby, there are no sponsored links nor adverts here – it’s all done with love!
I hope you find it enjoyable, interesting and occasionally, even helpful!
