Those that know me, know that I don’t do ‘lie-ins’ – as soon as I’m awake, and the brain kicks in (more slowly these days!), I’m normally up and doing stuff. So, it was quite a surprise that we didn’t get up until 9.30 this morning! Eeeek! that’s nearly lunchtime for me!!!
It’s our last full day here and we’ve deliberately made no plans – but I’m slightly concerned (mainly for ME!) that Ann has now found where the Gym is, and I can see I’ll be encouraged (ahem!) to try it out.
But, before all that nonsense, it’s time for breakfast – and they do it so well here! Today, for me, it was fillet steak accompanied by a full ’Abu-Dhabi’ (like a ‘full-English’, but with a bacon look/taste-alike substitute!).
So, as predicted, the only thing left to do, in terms of facilities, was to try out the Gym. For whatever reason, we hadn’t managed it so far! (hurrah!). Then, after brekky we did! (Boo!). Then, after signing in, there was segregation! (Boo!), then they said it didn’t matter (Hurrah!) and we headed to the right, instead of left (Boo!)
It was very well-equipped and we tried out a few machines, but generally we took it easy (being our first visit). Then it was back to the room to change before I spent some time getting shots of the hotel, whilst Ann soaked up the Sun.
Then it all turned a bit cloudy, so we headed back to our room to get packed/repacked for the flight to Oman tomorrow after breakfast. All sorted within an hour and after a bit of a snooze, it was downstairs to the Lobby, for the last time, and ‘happy hour’ for cocktails!
Boy! those cocktails were strong, and we really felt their full effect as we staggered towards the Chinese restaurant – The Shang Palace – located inside the hotel. The food and service was as it’s been throughout our stay – superb!
Spooky Fortune Cookies!
Stuffed by 9.30, we caught a movie on the TV before crashing-out ready for our early call at 5am tomorrow! …and so it’s bye-bye to the Shangri-La Hotel Qaryat Al Beri – it’s been a fantastic stay. Next stop, the Shangri-La Hotel Al Bandar in Muscat, Oman
I got into blogging quite late in life, not publishing my first post until 2004 – well into my 40s! My lifelong love of technology and communication (in all its forms), together with a fondness for the art of writing seemed to be the perfect combination to contribute a few words to the online community. But I’m no Samuel Pepys! If you’re looking for deep and meaningful comments on a variety of subjects, then you’ve arrived at the wrong site! I only pen for pleasure! On average, my posts appear about twice per month, covering family & friends, cinema visits, eating out, holiday experiences and techy stuff. Oh, and as this is my hobby, there are no sponsored links nor adverts here – it’s all done with love!
I hope you find it enjoyable, interesting and occasionally, even helpful!
