We arrived in London just after 11am – Ralph and Karen arrived a few minutes later. We grabbed a taxi and headed for the Premier Inn at County Hall. We were too early to check-in so we took a walk along the South Bank towards Blackfriars and stopped off for a rather swishy lunch at the Oxo Tower. We managed to bag a table on the terrace and although it was a bit breezy, it gave us a great view across London. Lunch was fab and so was the service – but we were reminded of London prices when the bill came – £10 for a glass of wine!!!
After lunch, we continued our stroll along the South Bank and along past the old Sainsbury HQ territory in Stamford Street. It was actually quite sad so see that Stamford House had been knocked down! We popped into the Tate Modern for a look round and were all thoroughly underwhelmed! – I’m sure the stuff means something to someone… it’s just wasn’t us!!!
We headed back towards the hotel and checked-in – Ann and I took a quick snooze in order to fully recharge our batteries for tonight’s events – eating out at TAS, the Turkish restaurant in The Cut. I’d been there many times before, but it was a first for Ann, Ralph and Karen.
6.59pm. TAS was busy (as it always is!) when we got there just before 7. Luckily, they found us a quiet corner and soon after, returned with the menus. We opted for mixed hot and cold starters and then a variety of meat based mains. The lamb and the chicken were superb – cooked to perfection! To help it down, we got through a bottle of red, two beers, sparkling water and a jug of tap!!! Ralph and I managed to squeeze in desserts – apricots with almonds and cream for Ralph and a mix of ice-creams for me.
Suitably stuffed, we headed back to the South Bank and coffee outside the RFH. It was packed with people doing the same as us – chilling out and enjoying the wonderfully warm evening.
Then, it was a quick walk past the Eye and the London Aquarium plus a quick look at the Houses of Parliament lit-up before we all decided that it had been a long day, so we headed back to our rooms at the Premier Inn.
10pm – time for bed!!!

I got into blogging quite late in life, not publishing my first post until 2004 – well into my 40s! My lifelong love of technology and communication (in all its forms), together with a fondness for the art of writing seemed to be the perfect combination to contribute a few words to the online community. But I’m no Samuel Pepys! If you’re looking for deep and meaningful comments on a variety of subjects, then you’ve arrived at the wrong site! I only pen for pleasure! On average, my posts appear about twice per month, covering family & friends, cinema visits, eating out, holiday experiences and techy stuff. Oh, and as this is my hobby, there are no sponsored links nor adverts here – it’s all done with love!
I hope you find it enjoyable, interesting and occasionally, even helpful!
