If you’re a fan of Facebook and you have the official ‘app’ from Windows Marketplace on your smart-phone, you will no doubt be cursing the fact, that recently it’s developed a fault and stopped automatically updating changes to your friends’ status. The work-around has been to log-out of the app and then log-in again. Hardly a chore, but a massive inconvenience!

The situation is not helped by the fact that even with about a gazillion people all reporting the problem on the ‘net, Microsoft has not updated this popular app.

It’s even more frustrating that as far I can see, there aren’t ANY alternatives out there. Until now! I did a quick search on the popular XDA Developers site and came across one being developed by ‘joe_coolish’ – maybe not his real name! :). You can download it, and track its progress HERE.

As I write, it’s in the early stages of development (beta 3), but having installed it on my HD2, it at least updates itself. There are no thumbnails of your friends and although the basic functionality is there (posting and comments), some of the native Facebook features (notes, photos, chat, inbox) aren’t implemented yet.

I for one, will be following its development as it looks a lot more polished, even at this stage, than the broken version.

Nice one Joe – keep up the good work!!!
