Holiday – Day 2 (Ironbridge)

Reading time: < 1 minute...
We had a short lay-in and after breakfast, we took a walk west and took in the sites. We visited the ‘Museum of Iron’ and ‘Enginuity’ (geddit?) which was a museum designed for kids (and us!) to experience science through hands-on games and exhibits such as controlling dams and building earthquake-proof constructions etc. Finished off at the ‘Museum of the Gorge’.

Back to base for a quick lunch – locally produced pasties – and then off by car to ‘Blists Hill’. This is an authentically preserved Victorian tow. Bakers, Candlemakers, Locksmiths are all there in period costume and totally absorbed in their role. Fascinating! You even get the option of changing your real money into an authentic replica ‘old money’. If it hadn’t been for the authentic ice-cold wind and rain :), we may have stayed longer!

Returned to the flat, and got a real fire going. Lovely! Eating in tonight. Only 300 or so more Christmas cards to write!
