Good morning all! ππ. After our recent long-distance travel from home, plus a sleepover at the Crowne Plaza Hotel at Changi Airport in Singapore, we’re now both a bit more ‘with it’.

Day 3 – Where are we? (Friday, 1st November)

9.55am: Another day, another flight, as we said goodbye to Singapore (briefly – we’re returning here towards the end of this holiday) and headed for the plane, courtesy of Singapore Airlines heading for Brisbane, where we’re spending three days.

The plane was busy, but we were soon aboard flight SQ245 and settling into seats 53B and 53C. It was about an eight-hour flight covering around 6135 km/3812 miles.

The time passed relatively quickly, helped by the gazillions of inflight movies and music. The food was excellent, and the legendary Airline’s customer service was as top-notch as ever. ππ
We landed on time at 7.45pm, and although there weren’t as many eGates letting us in, we only queued for around 10 minutes.
8.00pm: Good evening, Cobbers! We’ve arrived officially in Australia and popped our watches forward another two hours!! We didn’t have to wait long for our bags and grabbed a cab in seconds that took us on the 25-minute hop to the Meriton Suites Hotel in Herschel Street, (about where we’re staying for four nights. The roads were quite busy, but the four lanes (in places) and the numerous tunnels helped to make it a trouble-free and jam-free journey. The taxi cost us just under 70 AUD (about Β£35).

TODAY’S TRIVIA: The locals call Brisbane “Brissie” or “Brizzie”
Our home for the next few days -The Meriton Suites Hotel
Our Apartment (room 901) is much more than the usual hotel room, and has a fully equipped kitchen, together with a washing machine and dryer. π

We are very impressed with our new home. It’s very clean throughout and has all we need whilst we’re here in Brisbane.
MORE TRIVIA: After the US entered the Second World War and began diverting ships to Brisbane on their way to Pearl Harbour, Brisbane eventually hosted 75,000 American troops.
With the unpacking done, time for a sit-down.
10.00pm: That’s us done for the day! Tomorrow, we’re planning a gentle walk around Brisbane to soak up the sightsππ. Nighty-night Bruce! π¦π¦
I got into blogging quite late in life, not publishing my first post until 2004 – well into my 40s! My lifelong love of technology and communication (in all its forms), together with a fondness for the art of writing seemed to be the perfect combination to contribute a few words to the online community. But I’m no Samuel Pepys! If you’re looking for deep and meaningful comments on a variety of subjects, then you’ve arrived at the wrong site! I only pen for pleasure! On average, my posts appear about twice per month, covering family & friends, cinema visits, eating out, holiday experiences and techy stuff. Oh, and as this is my hobby, there are no sponsored links nor adverts here β it’s all done with love!
I hope you find it enjoyable, interesting and occasionally, even helpful!
