Nicki joined us for our day in Cambridge. As it turned out, the weather was just perfect – probably the warmest so far this year – 22 degrees – lovely!!!!
We left around 11.30 heading for one of the Park-and-Rides. This was our first use of the service and we didn’t have to wait long for the Bus. We then took the shortish journey into the centre of Cambridge – it was packed and we reckon this was probably due to a massive graduation ceremony at King’s College.
We started off by visiting most of the university colleges – great to see the terrific range of architecture, and then headed for the Fitzwilliam Museum. We haven’t been there for around 20 years and there was a lot of new stuff to appreciate now it had been extended. To round-off our visit, it was off to Sainsbury’s Sidney Street for Ann – the first store she’d managed as Store Manager some years ago – that had grown too and now also occupied the retail space next door, making it almost twice as large.
Then it was back to the Park-and-Ride stop for our return.
Well almost! Due to us selecting the wrong pick-up point, we ended up on the wrong bus that took us the very long route (almost and hour) back to where the car was parked. Still, no matter, it had been a great day, the sun had shone and it was good to just wander round Cambridge.
We got back around 6.30 and tucked into crusty bread, pate, tomatoes, ham and olives – scrummy!
There wasn’t much on the TV, so I watched a couple of episodes of the recently released DVD: Ripping Yarns (1975) starring Michael Palin – vintage stuff from the Monty Python era c1975.
Nicki left us around 8.30 heading home.
I got into blogging quite late in life, not publishing my first post until 2004 – well into my 40s! My lifelong love of technology and communication (in all its forms), together with a fondness for the art of writing seemed to be the perfect combination to contribute a few words to the online community. But I’m no Samuel Pepys! If you’re looking for deep and meaningful comments on a variety of subjects, then you’ve arrived at the wrong site! I only pen for pleasure! On average, my posts appear about twice per month, covering family & friends, cinema visits, eating out, holiday experiences and techy stuff. Oh, and as this is my hobby, there are no sponsored links nor adverts here – it’s all done with love!
I hope you find it enjoyable, interesting and occasionally, even helpful!
