We both had a lie-in this morning. We then drove to the town of Ashbourne for a look round. It’s a lovely place with plenty of little independent shops. I treated Ann to six necklaces and we then stopped off in a olde-tea-shoppe for tea, coffee, scones and tea cakes – yummy!
We then drove to the National Trust property ‘Sudbury Hall’ – we haven’t been there for around 2o years. Nice place and this time round they had a kids’ toys exhibition. Good to see the Corgi James Bond DB5 was amongst the collection. I remember Dad getting one for Neil and me when we were kids. Had tea and scones and then returned to the Station and caught up with various podcasts and music on my iPOD.
5pm. Time for a walk along the disused railway line. Beautiful! Though the tranqulity was occasionally punctuated with screaming – yes, that’s right, screaming from those at Alton Towers no doubt enjoying ‘Oblivion’ and ‘Nemesis’.
7pm. We returned to the ‘Bull’s Head’ in Alton for an excellent meal. We were so stuffed we couldn’t manage a dessert each, so we shared one! We’re going back again tomorrow!
9pm. Afterwards, it was back to base to catch up with our reading and music – a great day!
I got into blogging quite late in life, not publishing my first post until 2004 – well into my 40s! My lifelong love of technology and communication (in all its forms), together with a fondness for the art of writing seemed to be the perfect combination to contribute a few words to the online community. But I’m no Samuel Pepys! If you’re looking for deep and meaningful comments on a variety of subjects, then you’ve arrived at the wrong site! I only pen for pleasure! On average, my posts appear about twice per month, covering family & friends, cinema visits, eating out, holiday experiences and techy stuff. Oh, and as this is my hobby, there are no sponsored links nor adverts here – it’s all done with love!
I hope you find it enjoyable, interesting and occasionally, even helpful!
