TravelBlog Day 9: Villa Garcia de Arosa, north-west Spain

Strangely, sunrise wasn’t until just after 8am, so we awoke to a dark and spooky looking port. ‘The rain in Spain…’ as they, certainly fulfilled its promise. The coldest, dampest day so far.

Seems the local delicacy is fish, and according to the tourist info, ‘..the quality is to be equalled only in Newfoundland..’ Seems inappropriate then, to ask for a filet-o-fish or some fish fingers!

Santiago de Compostela is not too far away, a major destination for Roman Catholic Pilgrims since Apostle, St James’ bones were found here. We visited the Cathedral with what felt like most of Spain! They even had security on the door!!

La Toja, the nearby island, where legend has it, a sick donkey was the first to benefit from the magical healing powers of the spring water there. Shrek 3 anyone?

Overall, the port here is a dirty, uninteresting place, but finding the railway station, was a good move, even though the Spanish don’t have penchant for signage.
