Canada and Alaska – Part 2, Day 1: Heading for Alaska

We checked-out of the Apartment around 11am and booked a taxi to take us to the Cruise terminal. Luckily for us, there was only ONE Cruise Ship in port today – ours!, so our ride was able to drop us off without too much time queuing.

In spite of the mandatory fingerprint requirement (of all ten digits!) prior to boarding, the efficiency continued as we were on board Celebrity Millennium with a glass of bubbly in record time for a cruise-ship by 1pm. We couldn’t get to our stateroom – nor could anyone just yet – so we parked ourselves in a quiet corner near Guest Relations and attempted to work out the wi-fi arrangements.

Simples! (for a price!) and we were soon online with the only limitation of only one device at a time. Still, better than none I suppose! Around 30 minutes later, the stampede began as access to the Cabin Staterooms was granted.

The Ship had a refit last year and in most places, it showed! Our Cabin Stateroom clearly had benefitted from this and felt quite spacious and new.

Before the lifeboat drill scheduled for 4pm, we took a quick walk round the Ship to get our bearings. Having sailed with Celebrity Cruises before, it felt familiar(ish), but no doubt, at some point, based on past cruises, I WILL get lost!!

Well, that’s it for today – short and sweet! Clocks go back an hour tonight and we’re all at sea tomorrow. Next stop is Ketchikan on Sunday where the forecast is dry and 14 degrees C.

Catch you then!
