…and the celebrations continue (with still quite a few to go!) with a Black-Tie event at ours for a few friends.
Nick & Celina, Ralph & Karen and David and Valerie joined us for my Curry Banquet – with Ann doing most of the legwork in the kitchen and me contributing just by making the Bombay Potato and keeping the galley clear!
Bombay Potato in the making…
Nearly there…
Don’t we look posh?
…and after a few lot of shandies, for the next three-and-a-half hours, we munched pour way through the menu and tried to look sophisticated for the group-selfie. Well, at least the menu was a success!
Curry (not) in a Hurry..!
I had a great time and it was past midnight before we turned in leaving to dishwasher to do its magic overnight!
SUNDAY
Nick & Celina, Ralph & Karen slept-over, so we had a lazy breakfast before Nick and Celina said their goodbyes just before 11. Then it was out for a bracing walk around Wicksteed Park
Then it was off to the rather excellent Sondes Arms for their legendary Sunday Lunch. They didn’t disappoint, and although even I couldn’t face another mountain of food (and settled for the meagre scampi) Ann, Ralph and Karen maintained our tradition of enjoying Pub food to the max by test-driving their Sunday Roast.
The it was time for Ralph and Karen to head home, so we headed for the car-park and the short journey back to ours.
I’m not quite sure what happened to the rest of the day! We jumped online and ordered a few bits for the soon-to-be decorating project (Downstairs Loo and Hall) and the next moment I was falling asleep in front of the Strictly results!
It’s been a fantastic weekend and Ann worked her socks off getting everything sorted for yet another birthday celebration weekend – but I have to admit, by 8pm on Sunday, I was exhausted and all *I* had done was eat and drink!!
zzzzzzzzzzzzzz!
#DoDO60
I got into blogging quite late in life, not publishing my first post until 2004 – well into my 40s! My lifelong love of technology and communication (in all its forms), together with a fondness for the art of writing seemed to be the perfect combination to contribute a few words to the online community. But I’m no Samuel Pepys! If you’re looking for deep and meaningful comments on a variety of subjects, then you’ve arrived at the wrong site! I only pen for pleasure! On average, my posts appear about twice per month, covering family & friends, cinema visits, eating out, holiday experiences and techy stuff. Oh, and as this is my hobby, there are no sponsored links nor adverts here – it’s all done with love!
I hope you find it enjoyable, interesting and occasionally, even helpful!
