Day 5, and it’s all a bit dull out there! So we thought we’d stay local today – and visit Alnwick, as we haven’t wandered round here for nearly 20 years.
Perfectly on cue, as soon as we parked, it started to rain. First priority therefore, was a coffee-stop at the White Swan.
The White Swan’s claim to fame is that its Olympic Suite is largely made up from parts of the restaurant from the RMS Olympic (sister ship to the better known and ill-fated RMS Titanic).

Then, it was a lazy walk around the town, taking in the various landmarks.

Apart from the Sun, the only thing that was missing was any Butchers’ shops. Where are they? But who needs meat anyway? – Ann bought me another shirt! With the shopping sorted, we headed back to the Cottage.
This afternoon it was a belated birthday treat for me from Ann – a hot stone massage, courtesy of local Beautician, Mel.
Woh! That felt good. Nothing left to do n… o… w… zzzzzzzzzzzzzz!
Luckily, I woke up just in time to watch The Great British Bakeoff – together with most of the TV viewing public. And the winner is… HERE
Tomorrow: Another lazy day, plus a late night at Kielder Observatory for their ‘Night Sky Safari’ event.
I got into blogging quite late in life, not publishing my first post until 2004 – well into my 40s! My lifelong love of technology and communication (in all its forms), together with a fondness for the art of writing seemed to be the perfect combination to contribute a few words to the online community. But I’m no Samuel Pepys! If you’re looking for deep and meaningful comments on a variety of subjects, then you’ve arrived at the wrong site! I only pen for pleasure! On average, my posts appear about twice per month, covering family & friends, cinema visits, eating out, holiday experiences and techy stuff. Oh, and as this is my hobby, there are no sponsored links nor adverts here – it’s all done with love!
I hope you find it enjoyable, interesting and occasionally, even helpful!
