It’s just before 4pm, and after a six-hour drive (stopping off at Morpeth for their food and drink Festival), here we are – our home for the next seven days – Breamish Valley Cottages.
Affectionately called ‘Craggy’, it’s one of a small number of holiday cottages in the village of Powburn, near Morpeth, that’s so large you could actually live in it – permanently! No expense has been spared on the decor, fixtures and fittings – I think the TV is even bigger than the one we have at home, it’s got TWO en-suites, a massive lounge and even (satellite) internet!

Inside ‘Craggy’
We’ve stayed at quite a few places in our travels over the years – from camp-sites in the UK to top-notch Hotels and Resorts around the world, but this place has already set a benchmark that’s going to be hard to beat in the future. How’s this for an example of ‘thinking of everything’? The mobile signal here is pretty poor, but a few networks are better than others, so they’ve helpfully provided a mobile phone for our use. Add to that: a fully equipped hi-fi system with an iPOD dock, full central heating AND a wood-burner, microwave, washing machine, a double sized hob and oven, a dishwasher – and washing-up gloves too!
Oh, and a Spa AND an indoor swimming pool!
..and a welcome basket that would have kept us going for a day-or-so!
Tonight, our needs are more straightforward – we’re eating in and putting the kitchen through its paces!
Tomorrow, we’re out and about exploring Rothbury and then Cragside.
I got into blogging quite late in life, not publishing my first post until 2004 – well into my 40s! My lifelong love of technology and communication (in all its forms), together with a fondness for the art of writing seemed to be the perfect combination to contribute a few words to the online community. But I’m no Samuel Pepys! If you’re looking for deep and meaningful comments on a variety of subjects, then you’ve arrived at the wrong site! I only pen for pleasure! On average, my posts appear about twice per month, covering family & friends, cinema visits, eating out, holiday experiences and techy stuff. Oh, and as this is my hobby, there are no sponsored links nor adverts here – it’s all done with love!
I hope you find it enjoyable, interesting and occasionally, even helpful!
