Holiday – Peasenhall, Suffolk – Day 3

Reading time: < 1 minute...

We had a lazy lie in until 7.45! That’s unheard for us two! A quick look out of the window revealed a very wet day ahead. Maybe:::

A civilised breakfast of cereals, toast and coffee set us up for the day. The weather brightened up considerably, so we decided to drive to Southwold.

It’s a popular place, but we parked easily and took a wind-assisted walk towards the pier. A well-kept pier with lots of ‘gifte-shoppe’ type places en-route. We then drove into town and had a short walk-round, finishing up with coffee in ‘The Crown’ in the high street.

We then took a short drive to Aldeburgh. Another quaint town. We decided to try ‘The Lighthouse’ for lunch at 1 o’clock. Fish and chips for everyone except me – I opted for the scallops and chorizo on saffron mash. We all thought the meals were excellent!! We took a quick walk up and down the high street, plus a quick look at the beach.

Finally, we headed for ‘Snape Maltings’. It’s a small area that has a gift shoppe and one or two other touristy-type haunts. We spotted some glasses that would be ideal for Ann’s ‘sundae-type’ desserts. They’re also going to be building houses there soon. Looks like they’ll be expensive!

Ann drove the last leg of the journey back to the cottage. We got back by 4pm. Time for a read, a drink and very little else -we’re too exhausted!!!
