Holiday Blog Day 5 – Nice

Reading time: < 1 minute...

We ate at ‘Le Romarin’ last night. It was a short walk from the ‘hutch’ we’re staying in. The food was excellent!

The ‘hutch’ is growing on me even if it’s not growing in size. The guys who are running it have a fantastic eye for detail. At breakfast we had freshly squeezed juice from the orange tree outside plus home-made cherry jam together with the mandatory french-bread-and-croissants. All finished off with freshly brewed coffee, it’s a great start to the day.

After our excellent breakfast, we took a 20-minute walk to the town of “Juan les Pins” – an excellent sea-side resort. It’s a beautiful day – very warm, and getting warmer by the hour! A quick mooch around the shops, then we hopped on the train to Cannes – just a couple of stops away. There are a great selection of shops here too…but a little out of our price-range!

Back to Antibes by train. We picked up a few cakes and a soft drink for tonight’s meal and then found lunch at “La Côte à L’Os” a nice little restaurant tucked away down a side-street (we came across it yesterday). We went for one of their cheap ‘all-in’ menus. Ann had lamb on a skewer with a salad (interestingly, the skewer-bit was served dangling vertically above the salad on a metal support). Ì had turkey in a camembert sauce – beautiful! We both drunk far too much red wine, but the walk back helped. Just time to stop off at a local coffee-shop for our last coffee of the day!

We even found a newsagent that had today’s papers – perfect!!

We’re going to spend the rest of the day back at the ‘hutch’ catching up on UK news.
