It was a welcome return to The Olde Victoria – not for a sandwich, but for something far more substantial: Sunday Lunch. The reason? a good catch-up with friends from our working days: Geoff & Rhonda and Paul and Sue. Last time Ann and I were here was back in July last year – surely it wasn’t that long ago!?
Some things don’t change though! First, the car-park opposite was heaving (just a single space left) but on a more positive note, no change in the food & service – as good as ever!
In fact the restaurant coped really well, as I don’t think in all our visits, I’d ever seen it quite as full as it was (with just a couple of tables empty). As a guesstimate, I’d say there were close on 100 people all eating Sunday Lunch! They’re clearly doing something very right here – and we think we know what it is! Great food, sensible pricing, happy staff and superb service!
Ironically, the service was a bit slow to start with but at least they came over to our table and explained why – other restaurants please take note!! We soon made our choices and added a bottle of Shiraz to keep our drinks from the Bar company!
Starter: A Local Paté
Main: Roast Turkey with all the Trimmings
Lemon & Lime Cheesecake
We spent a good two hours a-nattering and a-nibbling and by the time we left just before 3.45, the place was still half-full. We even got round to agreeing the venue for our next get-together – The Mandarin Buffet sometime in early June.
Great lunch with great friends!
I got into blogging quite late in life, not publishing my first post until 2004 – well into my 40s! My lifelong love of technology and communication (in all its forms), together with a fondness for the art of writing seemed to be the perfect combination to contribute a few words to the online community. But I’m no Samuel Pepys! If you’re looking for deep and meaningful comments on a variety of subjects, then you’ve arrived at the wrong site! I only pen for pleasure! On average, my posts appear about twice per month, covering family & friends, cinema visits, eating out, holiday experiences and techy stuff. Oh, and as this is my hobby, there are no sponsored links nor adverts here – it’s all done with love!
I hope you find it enjoyable, interesting and occasionally, even helpful!
