For various reasons, our normal three-monthly get-together had got out-of-step and we hadn’t done this since September last year).
I drove over to Ian’s and picked him up, and then we headed for The Red Lion at Claverdon in Warwick (just a short drive from Stratford-upon-Avon) to meet up with Mags.
The restaurant was very tasteful inside – suitably dimmed lighting (but not so dim, as sometimes happens, that reading the menu would have been impossible!), a classy décor and background music at a respectful level that all combined to make this a great experience.
But the main reason for choosing here was the food – and it didn’t disappoint! The service was very attentive (but not OTT) which added to our overall positive experience. After perusing the extensive menu, I settled for Lent-friendly Crab Cakes followed by Ostrich, finishing with Cheesecake.
We had plenty of time to catch-up with everything that had been going on in our lives since we last got together, it was another great evening. And then, in a flash, it was over; and after a final coffee, we headed for the car-park and said our goodbyes until our next culinary get-together – Han at Market Harborough in May.
I got into blogging quite late in life, not publishing my first post until 2004 – well into my 40s! My lifelong love of technology and communication (in all its forms), together with a fondness for the art of writing seemed to be the perfect combination to contribute a few words to the online community. But I’m no Samuel Pepys! If you’re looking for deep and meaningful comments on a variety of subjects, then you’ve arrived at the wrong site! I only pen for pleasure! On average, my posts appear about twice per month, covering family & friends, cinema visits, eating out, holiday experiences and techy stuff. Oh, and as this is my hobby, there are no sponsored links nor adverts here – it’s all done with love!
I hope you find it enjoyable, interesting and occasionally, even helpful!
